Still Image Final Project

Image
Introduction: This is my still image final project. It is not much different than the last blog forum assignment, but it is much cleaner, and has much more flow. Before, it was very choppy and inconsistent, but I made it align with the audio, and added more pictures. It created a very smooth project, and seems much more detailed. I still did not include b-roll film. I could not really find anything to use for my topic. It was tough to come up with ideas to do so. I was able to add more text and include shapes to make my text more visible for the viewer. My Still Image:

Forum 5: Visual Communication

Image
Introduction For my video, I used words for a visual explanation in my work. I put what certain people said in spots to show someone who can't hear what is going on in my video. I tried to be detail enough without using too many words and make my video too wordy. What I Did and Didn't Do I was able to use words to tell the story that my video is telling. I wrote certain words to give cues to represent visual communication. I feel I could have been better with making the words have effects to them. I was pretty boring, and for my final project I might consider using solid backgrounds to make the words pop out at you without taking away the effect of the picture. I also, would like to use more fade-ins and fade-outs to make my pictures more interesting. Also, I still have house B-roll in my sequence. My Video

Forum 4: The Animatic

Forum 4: The Animatic What I Learned I learned a lot of new information when making my animatic. I gained a lot of new knowledge after using Adobe Premier for the first time. To be honest, when I first started using Premier I had no idea what I was doing. It took me some time to learn the material, but after awhile I started figuring out how to do each step of this assignment. I learned how to upload my audio into the app and match up pictures to it. It was tough to find pictures and transfer them over, but after struggling with it, I figured it out. I feel comfortable creating sequences now and I am excited to pursue this project and use Premier in the future. What I Couldn't Figure Out The only real thing I struggled with was figuring out how to get my audio story into Premier. At first, I tried putting it onto my flash drive, but the computer would not read it. So, I asked a classmate for help, and he helped me download it from Soundcloud. Then, I was able to find it in...

Audio Story Podcast

This is my final Audio Story podcast. I thought this was a fun assignment to complete. I really enjoyed using Adobe Audition, and learning new things. I was very pleased to finish this assignment because I felt very satisfied when I was complete. This has me wanting to do another audio podcast in the future. I truly enjoyed this exciting assignment.

Forum Assignment #3

My Podcast: I have decided to continue with my original idea for my audio podcast. I found it very interesting to ask people on the street if they think there are aliens inside of Area 51. I think it will be a question we will never know an answer to, which makes it so unique. Experts: I thought I was stuck in a rut when I had to find an expert to interview on this topic because it is such a hard question to answer. Also, if any expert had any clue, the information is classified. That would make it difficult for them to give me any more information on the topic than I already know. But, I have a friend who is in the Air Force and I texted him and asked if I could interview him about the question, and he said he is very willing to give me answers. He said he knows a lot about what is involved with the Air Force base, but has to be careful with what he says because how classified the information is. Background Music: For my background music, I want to have a song that gives a s...

POS

Forum #2: POS Interviews The question I asked random people on the street was, "do you believe there are aliens inside of Area 51"? I am from California, so this topic is a big debate from where I am from. I thought this would be a more fun question to ask the public, but all three responses I received was not as interesting as I hoped for. I did enjoy going out to the public though. I took more than three interviews, but some of them did not turn out well, so I took the best three I had. I did not have any issues with using Audition. The only part that I struggled with was making my clip 30 seconds. I was not able to cut it all the way down, but I got it close. For my audio story, I am going to have to shorten my introductions and lengthen the actual interview parts. I feel I gained a better understanding of how to use audition, as I was able to get comfortable with cutting and fading my clips together.
Introduction I listened to "In Defense of Ignorance" published by This American Life. In my post I identify and explain four kinds of audio referenced in "10 tips for using audio more effectively in multimedia stories". I also described how the podcast incorporated Ira Glass' "moments of reflection".  Interview Clips Interview clips are defined as, "recordings of a story’s subject(s), typically recorded on location or over the phone" (Frechette). Casey Frechette, who posted "10 tips for using audio more effectively in multimedia stories", writes that interview sounds bites help bring the characters in our stories to life (Frechette). In "Defense of Ignorance", Lulu Wang tells us about how her grandmother is dying from stage four cancer, and she interview's her father to show how the tragedy has hit their family. The interview brings more life into the story and gives the listener another side of the story....
